The dialog between old and new is always controversial. In this project we are stacking spaces with fluidity each other in 3d space and relation with old enclosure.
The TU-ARC Trakya Universitesi Campus Concept explores the intricate relationship between historical architecture and modern design, aiming to create a harmonious blend that respects the past while embracing innovation. By integrating new spaces with existing structures, this project seeks to enhance the campus's functionality and aesthetic appeal without compromising its heritage. The approach involves carefully designing fluid transitions between old and new elements, ensuring that each addition complements rather than overwhelms the original architecture.
For me, this project helps me to create, understand, and design user behavior and experiences through spatial environments. Flow between spaces in 3 dimensions and dialog between historic & modern are key factors in my design. Heavily inspired by Adolf Loose and Gordon Matta-Clark. In addition, UCL, Space Syntax analyzes is used in spatial arrangements.
Notable outcomes of this concept include the creation of versatile communal areas that serve both academic and social purposes, fostering a sense of community among students and faculty. Additionally, the project emphasizes sustainable practices by incorporating green spaces and energy-efficient technologies, making it not only visually appealing but also environmentally responsible. Through meticulous planning and thoughtful execution, TU-ARC Trakya Universitesi Campus Concept aims to set a new standard for educational facilities that seamlessly merge tradition with contemporary needs.
